Made with freshly minced garlic, butter, grated parmesan and herbs, this homemade garlic bread is the perfect side dish for any occasion.
Let me just go ahead and get it out there… this garlic bread will make your entire house smell heavenly. Garlicy, buttery, toasty… what’s not to like here? Piping hot and fresh out of the oven, this recipe is something your whole family will enjoy (or should I say… devour?). We like to serve this alongside Homemade Meatloaf, Roasted Acorn Squash Pasta or dunked into bowls of Tomato Basil Soup.

INGREDIENTS FOR HOMEMADE GARLIC BREAD:
BAGUETTE OR FRENCH LOAF: Either work in this recipe, you could even use a round of sourdough if you have one handy.
GARLIC: Freshly minced garlic is best. Never use pre-chopped in a can, as it isn’t as potent and won’t taste the same. I opt for 5 to 6 cloves, depending on their size. Yes that’s right, it’s called GARLIC bread… now get choppin’. 😉
FRESH ITALIAN PARSLEY: This adds color and herby freshness. I do not recommend dried herbs in this recipe. Go ahead, indulge on the good stuff.
SALTED BUTTER: Allow this to come to room temperature, as it will be easier to stir together with the remaining ingredients.
GARLIC POWDER: I like to use a small dash of garlic powder for extra yumminess. This ensures there’s some garlic flavor in every little nook and cranny.
PAPRIKA: Just a pinch will do the trick. This isn’t a mandatory ingredient but I like the sweet, earthy taste.
ONION POWDER: Again, not mandatory but I think it compliments the other flavors.
PARMESAN CHEESE: Cheese… on garlic bread? You ‘betcha.

NOTES ON THIS RECIPE:
- If you like a sweeter garlic flavor, you can roast the bulbs beforehand and then add the softened cloves to the butter mixture. Simply cut the bulb in half and place it on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper and wrap the foil around the bulb, making sure it’s fully sealed. Bake at 400F for 30 – 40 minutes.
- Traditional paprika and smoked paprika taste very different. I prefer to use regular paprika, but if you’d like to add an outdoorsy-woodsy flavor, you can give smoked paprika a try.
- Store any leftovers in a sealable container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator. I recommend lightly toasting again before consuming so they’re nice and warm. Enjoy leftovers within the next day or two.
