Chicken Meatball Asian Lettuce Wraps

February 26, 2023 By Jessica Leave a Comment

When it comes to Asian Lettuce Wraps, meatballs are the ideal companion. Add some cabbage, crispy pickled coleslaw, sesame seeds, and you’re all set.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Meatballs are a go-to when it comes to family supper. They’re easy to whip together, cook pretty fast, and everyone enjoys them. You can serve these as lettuce wraps or with rice and steamed veggies for a heartier meal. To be honest, they’d also taste great inside a sandwich… ya’ll know how much I heart sandwiches. These little guys are packed with so much flavor! If you’re a fan of meatballs like me, you should check out this Buffalo Chicken version, stuffing beef ones into these Spicy Taquitos, or adding them into a classic Italian Sub for a fusion delight!

INGREDIENTS FOR THIS RECIPE:

Asian Lettuce wraps seriously please the masses. They’re tangy, savory, just the right amount of salty, full of flavor, and actually quite healthy! Here’s everything that you’ll need:

FOR THE MEATBALLS:

  • Ground Chicken
  • Seasoned Panko Breadcrumbs
  • Egg
  • Dried Minced Onion
  • Grated Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Cilantro
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Sesame Oil
  • Liquid Aminos

GLAZE:

  • Liquid Aminos
  • Sriracha
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Garlic
  • Honey
  • Sesame Oil

FOR SERVING:

  • Green Leaf Lettuce
  • Red Cabbage
  • Picker Fresh Pickled Veggie Slaw
  • Green Onions
  • White Sesame Seeds

Don’t let the ingredient list intimidate you, they’re actually pretty easy to make and use quite a bit of pantry ingredients you already have on hand. Picker Fresh Pickled Veggie Slaw is a game changer – adds a touch of vinegar and crunch that’s unlike no other.

CAN YOU MAKE THESE AHEAD OF TIME?

You betcha! Like I mentioned earlier, they’re great for meal prep. Honestly, personal opinion, I even think these taste great cold. They’ll stay good in the fridge for up to 3 days, just make sure to keep them in a sealed container. The sauce will thicken when refrigerated and heats up nicely if you’d like to enjoy them warm.

TIPS FOR MAKING ASIAN LETTUCE WRAPS:

  • When making the meatballs, go ahead and get your hands in there. Take off your rings and really get in there. You want to make sure the ingredients are well combined. Not over-mixed, but folded together well.
  • I prefer to use green leaf lettuce for the wrap, as it’s large enough to hold a couple meatballs along with the accompanying fixings. Plus, it’s crunchy!
  • Do not assemble the wraps until you’re ready to enjoy. Store the lettuce and fixings separately and put together right before you’re ready to eat.

NOTES ON THIS RECIPE:

  • If preferred, use an ice cream scooper to form similar sized meatballs.
  • Pickerfresh Pickled Veggie Slaw is a must-have crunchy mix of pickles, carrot, red pepper, celery, and onion. It adds so much flavor and pairs really well with the chicken meatballs. They also make pickled garlic, which tastes great with this recipe, too!
  • The sesame seeds aren’t a mandatory ingredient, but they add a little nutty taste and look pretty.
