There’s something nostalgic about a good ‘ol French Bread Pizza Recipe. Quick to make, super crunchy, and memories from my childhood.
I grew up making my own dinner most nights, and when we had all the ingredients for French bread pizza it was one of my go-to’s. With so many variations you can create, this meal really has the opportunity to please just about anyone. Today we are making a buffalo chicken version inspired by my most recent visit to Marlee Jean’s Raw Bar.

INGREDIENTS FOR THIS RECIPE:
While Marlee Jean’s uses a different type of cheese, I tried my best to mimic the same flavors of what they have on their menu. It was just sooo good, I was craving it. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Springer Mountain Farms Chicken Breast
- French Bread Loaf
- Olive Oil
- Buffalo Sauce (I used Frank’s Red Hot)
- Colby Jack Cheese
- Banana Peppers
- Red Onion, sliced
- Blue Cheese Crumbles
- Chopped Cilantro
- Ranch
JESS TIPS FOR THE PERFECT FRENCH BREAD PIZZA:
PICKING OUT FRENCH BREAD: Pick up a thicker loaf from the market, not a traditional crunchy baguette type. You’re looking for the ones that are large, soft, and fluffy. They’re not a classic French loaf, but this is the type that makes the best French bread pizza. To be honest, I like using Puerto Rican Bread I can find at my local Publix.
TOASTING THE BREAD FIRST: While you can certainly make this by cutting a loaf in half, adding toppings, and baking… sometimes I find it to become a bit soggy. First and foremost, I pick out a little of bread to create a cavity for ingredients. Then to avoid the soggy factor, go ahead and drizzle the bread with a little olive oil and toast for about 5 minutes to create a crunchy layer.
THE SAUCE: I personally prefer Frank’s Red Hot Sauce but you can certainly use whatever kind of buffalo sauce you like best.
TOPPINGS: Today we are focusing on a buffalo chicken pizza, but other varieties we enjoy include classic pepperoni, combination, vegetarian, or honestly whatever you enjoy most!

Buffalo Chicken French Bread Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Chicken Breasts
- Salt + Pepper, to taste
- 1 loaf French Bread
- 4 tbsp. Olive Oil
- 1 cup Buffalo Sauce , + extra for drizzle
- 1/2 cup Banana Peppers
- 1/4 Red Onion, sliced
- 1/3 cup Blue Cheese Crumbles
- 16 oz. Colby Jack (or any melty cheese), shredded
- 2 tbsp. Chopped Cilantro
- 1/4 cup Ranch, + extra for drizzle
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper. Sear over medium heat in a large skillet and continue to cook until internal temperature has reached 165F. Set aside to cool for a few minutes before chopping into bite-sized pieces.
- Preheat the oven to 450F. Cut the loaf in half lengthwise. Pick out a little of the breading in the middle to create some room for the fillings. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 5 minutes, cut side up, to create a slight crust. Remove from oven and set aside.
- Divide chicken among both pieces of crusty French bread. Drizzle with buffalo sauce and then evenly top with banana peppers, red onions, blue cheese crumbles, and shredded cheese.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese has melted. Broil for 1 - 2 minutes at the end, if desired. Cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Enjoy immediately.
