I’m a big fan of pillowy, savory goodness. That’s why these Sausage Biscuit gems are a family favorite! Quick prep, bake, and enjoy!
Perfectly browned Italian sausage, caramelized onions, cream cheese, cheddar, all snuggled inside a biscuit… how could you resist? These are the ultimate comfort food. Added bonus? You can serve them for an appetizer at parties, during brunch or even with breakfast (hello… slap an over-easy egg on top and you’re good to go! Make sure to use a fork and knife, YUM).
Other magic-in-the-middle indulgences include My Grandma June’s Bierocks, this Lasagna Stuffed Garlic Bread, and my Buffalo Meatball Taquitos! I’ll take a plate with one of each… thanks. 😉

INGREDIENTS FOR THIS SAUSAGE BISCUIT RECIPE:
When it comes to handheld treats, I’m a go-big-or-go-home kinda gal. There’s nothing more satisfying then a doughy pocket filled with some of my favorite ingredients. Everyone loves them, and I guarantee you will too!
- Sweet Yellow Onion
- Butter
- Mild Italian Ground Sausage
- Cream Cheese
- Shredded Cheddar
- Butter
- Garlic
- Refrigerated Biscuit Dough
- Fresh Italian Parsley
Per the usual, you can adjust this recipe to your personal likings. I LOVE garlic, so I include it with my butter brushing before baking. Not a fan? Skip it! Mi casa es tu casa, let me know in the comments if you swayed from this recipe and make it your own! I’d love to try your version!
HOW TO MAKE THESE GLORIOUS ROLLS:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high. Mince the onion and sauté in butter until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Add the ground sausage and break apart with a wooden spoon or spatula. Cook until meat is browned and cooked through. Drain and return to the skillet.
- Add the cream cheese and shredded cheddar. Continue to cook on low, stirring occasionally, until both cheeses have melted. Mix well to combine.
- Smush each biscuit round into a flat circle. Spoon a tablespoon or so of the sausage mixture into the center and wrap the dough around, pinching to seal and closing the sausage filling inside. Place seam side-down on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining biscuits.
- Preheat oven to 350F. While you’re waiting for the oven to come to temp, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter that’s infused with minced garlic. Top each biscuit with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
- Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Turn to broil during the last 2 – 3 minutes to achieve extra crispy crust. Serve warm and enjoy immediately!

NOTES ON THIS RECIPE:
- If you’re not a fan of onion, honestly… you can skip it. However, my older brother claims that he hates onions and I just don’t tell him… and he loves these! That’s our little secret, okay?
- I use mild Italian sausage to please the masses (because I sometimes give these to my neighbors). I personally enjoy spicy sausage… so if you’re a fan of heat, go for it)!
- You don’t need a rolling pin to flatten out the dough, do it with your hands! Carefully smush on a floured surface, pick up and stretch. You can do it, I believe in you! Seriously, they don’t need to be perfect. That’s the best part about home cooking!

I’m so glad you love them as much as we do! Sometimes I’l add chopped jalapeños to the mix if I know I’m serving to a spicy-lovin’ crowd! Thank you for trying my recipe!
