We’re officially on summer break, so you know what that means? Air Fryer Pizza Rolls are a MUST for our kiddos and their friends. Seriously, I feel like I make these on the daily. Psst: Adults like them too!
Never underestimate the amount of snacks growing boys can consume in one afternoon. I set out the plate and these are gone within minutes. I love utilizing egg roll wrappers (or wonton wrappers) for different snacks. They’re crunchy, savory, sometimes sweet, and usually an easy handheld snack for individual portions. Perfect for pool time, neighborhood get-togethers, and all around loved by all. Besides these little gems right here, I often make these Kimchi Cheeseburger Egg Rolls, my Two-Bite Apple Streusel Wonton Cups, or for heartier appetites… these Hot Chicken Dip Wonton Tacos.
INGREDIENTS FOR THIS RECIPE:
My kiddos (and their neighbor friends) love all forms of pizza. Detroit-Style Deep Dish, sandwiched between Puff Pastry Sicily Stacks, or even this Gimme The Meats Italian Stuffed Stromboli… they’ll gobble ’em all up. What’s your favorite type of pizza? Here’s everything you’ll need for this egg-roll version!
FOR THE EGG ROLLS;
- Egg Roll Wrappers
- Cheese Sticks
- Pepperoni Slices
- Cooking Spray or Olive Oil
- Warm Marinara (or make my No Cook Pizza Sauce!)
OPTIONAL GARNISHES:
- Hot Honey
- White Sesame Seeds
- Grated Parmesan
- Italian Parsley
While I love all the suggested garnishes listed above, picky eaters might just like the pizza rolls plain. I usually will double the recipe if we have a bunch of friends over and make one plate of each. These can be served with red sauce or my Homemade Buttermilk Ranch for dipping.
CAN YOU BAKE PIZZA ROLLS?
You betcha! Preheat your oven to 400F while you assemble the pizza rolls. Place them seam side down on a baking sheet and spray each roll with cooking spray or brush their exterior with olive oil (this is what helps them get super crispy!). Bake for 6 minutes, flip them, then continue to bake for another 2 – 3 minutes or until golden brown.
WHAT ABOUT FRYING?
Yes, you can certainly shallow fry these and they’ll turn out great. I usually heat up about 1/2 inch of canola or vegetable oil to 375F in a large skillet. Carefully add the pizza rolls to the hot oil and fry for about 45 seconds on each side, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Once golden and the cheese is melty, remove from the oil and place on a paper-towel lined plate to drain any access oil. Repeat in batches until all of the pizza rolls are cooked. Serve warm.

- 10 Egg Roll Wrappers
- 10 Cheese Sticks
- 30 Pepperoni Slices, cut in 4ths
- Cooking Spray or Olive Oil
- Water
- Warm Marinara, for dipping
- Drizzle of Hot Honey
- White Sesame Seeds
- Grated Parmesan
- Italian Parsley
- Preheat the air fryer to 400F.
- While you're waiting, assemble the pizza rolls: Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a cutting board. Add 1 mozzarella cheese stick and about 1 teaspoon of cut pepperoni to the center of an egg roll wrapper. Using your finger, brush all four edges of the wrapper with water. Then tightly fold the wrapper around the filling, one at a time. Repeat this process with the remaining filling and wrappers, then set them aside.
- Coat all sides of the egg rolls with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Place in the pre-heated air fryer, seam side down, and cook for about 5 minutes. Flip the pizza rolls and continue to air fry for 3 - 5 more minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve immediately with optional garnishes and/or marinara.
NOTES ON THIS RECIPE:
- Each air fryer is different, so cooking times may vary slightly. I have the 10 quart Instant Pot Vortex, but a basket air fryer will work too! Just make sure the pizza rolls aren’t touching each other, as they can stick. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to air fry in batches.
- It’s okay if a little cheese oozes out while air frying. They’ll still taste just as delicious as the picture perfect ones. To avoid this, make sure the egg roll wrappers are sealed together on each side.
- Can you use shredded mozzarella instead of cheese sticks? Sure! I’d add 2 – 3 tablespoons per egg roll.
- Allow any leftover rolls to cool before storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy within the next 1 – 2 days. To reheat, simply microwave or place them back in the air fryer at 375 for a couple minutes.
