Here’s a few tips for making a delicious batch of Chocolate Bark, in less than 20 minutes, at home. It’s the perfect afternoon treat to make with your kids and makes a great gift!
With two kids under the age of four, I’m constantly brainstorming indoor activities to keep us busy during the winter months.
It’s 35 degrees outside, so burning off our energy outdoors isn’t really a good option. So a few weeks ago, I thought it would be fun to set up a Chocolate Bark station for our 3-year-old. By no surprise, he absolutely LOVED it.

Lucky for me, I have a big variety of Hu Kitchen chocolate bars in our pantry at all times.
I’ve been working on sponsored Instagram posts with them for a while now, so delish. A few things I love about their chocolates are the fact that they are vegan, refined sugar free, and made using the highest quality cacao. Oh, and they’re organic too! Did I convince you to buy a bar?
The first thing you need to do is decide what toppings you’d like. We opted for a mixture of our favorite nuts, seeds, dried fruit and bee pollen. Feel free to substitute with whatever you have on hand (or whatever you’re currently craving).
There’s no right or wrong when it comes to choosing your bark toppings.
Next you’ll melt the chocolate. I prefer to do this in the microwave because it’s fast and easy. Personal Mommy Note: 3-year-olds have a minimal amount of patience, so nuking the chocolate works best for us. If you’d rather melt it over the stovetop, that works too!
Once the chocolate has melted, simply pour onto a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle on your favorite toppings and pop that bad boy into the freezer to set. Once the bark has hardened, simply break apart and enjoy!
For those who’d like to have visual directions, I’ve included step-by-step photos below.
This recipe is completely customizable and incredibly easy to make. Don’t be afraid to explore topping options and have fun with it! Naturally, our favorite part in preparing this recipe is Step 5.
