Our little corner of the internet has come a long way in four years. Slice of Jess originally served as a simple recipe platform, yet has morphed into a full culinary and travel resource for readers near and far. It’s been a grand ride, and I feel grateful each and every day.
Who knew Sweet Potato Jalapeño Hash and Eggs would eventually lead us to the recipes we are creating today.

I pushed “publish” for the first time on June 1, 2014. After many conversations with my husband about not remembering the exact ingredients for certain dishes, he surprised me with a WordPress account. To start, I plugged in my favorite creations for archive purposes mainly. Eventually, that library slowly transitioned into a blog that included photography and a short story with each post. I then started my own social media accounts and the rest is history. If we’re not already friends on Instagram, find my account here!
My adventures as Slice Of Jess have solidified Charlotte as my forever home.
We moved to the East Coast on our own with no family or friends in sight (except our Boston terrier and rescue cat). Not only have I been able to explore the Carolinas through my blog, but I’ve met some of the most amazing individuals along the way (who have become some of my closest friends). Getting to know my local community (video alert) and sharing our experiences here is a dream come true.
Some pretty cool things have happend over the years: I became a regular contributor on some local news channels and my website has had it’s debut in few magazines. I now attend a handful of travel trips per year and I was even recognized by Zagat as #9 in the United States for their 2017 Foodie Awards.
Fast forward four years and I now fill my days with freelance writing, photography, restaurant consulting and social media services.
